Your CV and Letter of Application
Everyone has an opinion about CVs - the more opinions you seek the more conflicting opinions you will receive. But remember:
It is your marketing tool - use it as such.
If you are not getting interviews, your CV is probably to blame.
You should tailor your CV to the job you are applying for - no one has just one CV anymore.
It should be no more than two pages long. Use it to say where you have been while your covering letter should say where you are going.
Always reply promptly. Read the advertisement, read what you are being asked to send.
Remember that quality is everything, there is nothing worse than a scrap of paper or poor photocopies of a CV.
Check and double-check your spelling and grammar.
Do not tell lies on your CV - you will be found out. If not at interview stage, at a later date when it could prove impossible to retract. |
Your covering letter should say why you are the best person for the job and what skills and experience you can bring.
