CV Clearing House Introduction
CV
CLEARING HOUSE
CV CLEARING HOUSE
bookcareers.com keep a register of people who are looking for work within
publishing, bookselling, librarianship and related fields. It is free
to register your CV with us. We publicise this register by putting an
impersonal online profile about you on our website for everyone to see.
Who can apply?
We are a register for people who already have experience relevant to
the book and publishing industry, or those who have studied publishing
at university level.
If you have no experience whatsoever it is at our discretion and depends
on the number of people currently within our database at any one time.
The quality of your CV is important: if
there are two or more errors of a spelling, grammatical or factual nature,
your CV registration application will be rejected. So please check your
CV carefully before uploading it.
How to apply
Please read our terms and conditions. Once you have agreed to them you
may register. During registration (approx. 10 minutes) you will be asked
for your CV (Microsoft word document or text file).
You will also be asked to write about 50 words about the work you are
looking for and your relevant experience, we will use this as a foundation
to write an impersonal online profile about you. The online profile
will appear in a public area of the website and will be seen by everyone
- registered or not. Once your profile has gone online you may have
the opportunity to revise it, but with our administration's approval.
Once you have registered your email address
you may come back and complete your registration at any time.
Once you have supplied your email address to us, you may receive an
email from us reminding you to complete the registration process.
How it works
Once you have applied to join, your profile will go onto a public area
of the site, for everyone to see. Your skills and experience (not your
personal information) will go into a database which is searchable by
registered potential employers.
What can a registered employer see about
me?
They will be able to view your skills and experience and the town where
you live but CANNOT see your personal details.
What happens next?
If you meet their criteria or they are otherwise interested in you,
they will invite you to apply for a vacancy. You can either ACCEPT or
DECLINE. If you accept, your personal details and CV (you will be given
the opportunity to submit an updated CV) will be forwarded to the potential
employer. If you decline, they will only receive notification that candidate
(unknown) has declined – they will not know who you are. If you
ACCEPT an invitation to apply for a vacancy, it is then up to the employer
concerned to get in touch with you to arrange an interview.
You are not discriminated against if you
decline to be put forward for any particular vacancies. Nor do we discriminate
on grounds of age, gender, sexual orientation, race or disability.
Please note that we do not want you to
apply for jobs just for 'interview practice'.
We are not an employment agency or a recruitment
consultancy and do not guarantee any level of response. Whilst we take
every care and precaution to protect your personal data and ensure that
users of this service are bona fide employers, we cannot accept any
liability for any incidents or occurrences. You use this service at
your own risk.
