When you say goodbye to
staff they need your support -
give them the support they need
It's
not easy making staff redundant or terminating their contract. If you
can cushion the blow by providing outplacement, give them an outplacement
counsellor who specialises in book publishing.
Our consultant, Suzanne Collier, has spent 25 years in various roles within the industry and over 15 of those offering Careers Counselling.
Careers Counselling
We can help staff at all levels from first jobber to senior management
come to terms with the loss of their job and prepare them for finding
employment elsewhere. We take candidates through all the problems that
they will face, prepare a job search programme, advise them on their
CV and interview techniques and guide them through the initial stages
of job-hunting. At this stage, this is probably no different to any
other Outplacement Counselling, but we know about books and book publishing:
we know the industry; the companies; the personalities; the market trends;
and all the employment resources and agencies. This is why we prefer
to remain independent: we don't work for any particular agency - we
like to work with them all. We also offer all our clients the same confidentiality
that they would expect from a doctor, enabling us to address all of
the issues involved in finding suitable work elsewhere.
Individual or Group Sessions
We see clients either as individuals or group sessions, and where groups
of staff are affected, can do a mixture of both. As well as holding
CV and interview workshops, we also are trained in motivating staff
that remain after their colleagues have been made redundant, enabling
them to re-focus on their own role within the company, throughout turbulent
times of change. Sessions can take place either in our practice or your
offices.
Email and Telephone Support
Wherever possible we always continue contact with clients until they
find suitable employment by a mixture of email and telephone support,
meaning that they never feel on their own. If you are giving staff a
long period of notice we can offer "Coaching Gym", where after an initial
consultation they have unlimited email support and a weekly telephone
call, until they find another job or their employment with you ends.
Reporting
Although we offer clients individual confidentiality, when our contract
is with a company, where required, we do give progress reports on candidates.
Ongoing Training
We know that employment trends and training needs change rapidly, which
is why we perpetually continue our own development by attending workshops,
networking and through our membership of the International Association
of Career Management Professionals.
Career Development
Aside from our outplacement service, we also offer career development
for people in all stages of their career, from seeking their first job
within the industry to developing their skills for senior management.
Again within this field we cover clients who are struggling through
workplace related problems, coping with change, job search programmes,
CV and interview techniques, balancing work and home life.
