2004 Salary Survey and are copyright of bookcareers.com.
Respondents completed an online form, between May and July 2004. The
form was advertised in The Bookseller, and via trade associations as
the SYP, Women in Publishing, Institute of Publishing and on the bookcareers.com
website.
We received a total of 1073 valid responses.
We really must thank all of these respondents
for their input - without them this survey would not be possible.
* The average overall salary was £23,942
* The average starting salary was £16,300
* 80% of all respondents were under the age of 35
* 78% of respondents were female, 22% male
* Men are receiving higher salaries than women
