Career Fast Forward
Set goals. Take action. Make progress.
A structured coaching programme for publishing professionals who want to make more of the job they have now, with clear goals, agreed deadlines and someone to hold you accountable for making it happen.

What's included
Decide what you want. Set your goals. Take action. Come back accountable.
Decide what you want
We look at where you are now, what you want from your current role and what you would like to achieve or change
Set your goals
Together we turn that thinking into specific, realistic goals and agree what you will do before we meet again
Set the deadline
Before the first session ends, we agree when we’ll meet again — one, three or six months later. That second appointment is part of the programme and the deadline matters
Review your progress
At your second session, we review what you’ve achieved, what you’ve learned and what happens next — whether that means setting new goals or continuing independently
What we can work on
Your career doesn't develop by itself; you have to make it happen
Career Fast Forward is for people who are already working in publishing and want to take charge of their own career development. You may be doing well in your job but know there are skills, experience or opportunities you need if you're going to progress.
Your employer can't always give you everything you need. Your current role may not offer the right experience, you may not be getting the opportunities you expected or you may simply feel that your career has stopped moving. We look at what you want to achieve, what is getting in the way and what you can actually do about it.
Your goals don't have to be the same as your employer's appraisal objectives. Their priorities are about what they need from you. Career Fast Forward is about what you need for your career.
This isn't cosy mentoring or an open-ended conversation. We set objectives and agree what you are going to do. You then have a deadline to work towards and a second appointment when we'll review your progress.
We can't guarantee that an employer will give you an opportunity, change a decision or promote you. What we can do is help you identify the things you can influence and turn them into practical action.
How to proceed
Career Fast Forward costs £299 and includes two coaching sessions, normally with the same coach.
Before we begin, we'll ask you about your current role, what you want to achieve and what you would like to change or develop. We'll then match you with an experienced publishing industry professional with recognised coaching qualifications and arrange your first session.
Your first session is where you agree your objectives, the action you are going to take and when you will meet again. The second session is an essential part of Career Fast Forward, not an optional follow-up. Your review date will be agreed for one, three or six months later, depending on the goals you have set.
At your second session, you'll review what you have achieved, what happened and what you want to do next. If you haven't achieved everything you set out to do, the session is used to understand why and what needs to change. Setting new or revised objectives is not part of the second Career Fast Forward session. If you want to continue, you can then start another Career Fast Forward cycle. Further coaching is booked as a complete two-session package, with the first session used to agree your new or revised objectives and set your next review date.
The £299 fee covers the complete two-session Career Fast Forward package.
