You don't need to know the answer. That's what career guidance is for.
You might know that something needs to change but have no idea what. You may be questioning whether you're in the right role, wondering what else you could do, considering leaving publishing, returning after a career break or trying to decide between several very different possibilities. You may simply feel stuck.
Career guidance isn't about us telling you what we think you should do. We use established career guidance methodologies to explore your aspirations, values, motivations, skills and experience, and combine these with up-to-date labour market information and the realities of today's workplace.This helps you understand what matters to you and what your prospects are, so you can make informed career decisions.
As professionally qualified career development practitioners, we remain impartial. We don't have a vacancy to fill, an employer to represent or a particular outcome we want to steer you towards. Our focus is you, your career and helping you make a decision that is right for you.
What makes our approach different is that we combine professional career guidance with an in-depth understanding of book publishing. We can explore your options impartially while also bringing real knowledge of publishing roles, salaries, career paths, workplace cultures and the realities of working across the industry.
You don't have to arrive with a clearly defined career question. Part of the process can be working out what the real question is.
How to proceed
Career Guidance costs £249 and includes your career guidance session and one follow-up call, which can be used within four weeks.
Once you've booked, we'll ask you for some information about where you are in your career, what you'd like to explore and what you're hoping to get from the consultation. This means we can prepare properly and make the best use of our time together.
Career Guidance may include discussion of how your skills and experience could be positioned for different career options, but it does not include reviewing, editing or advising on CVs, LinkedIn profiles, covering letters, job applications or interview preparation.
As Registered Career Development Professionals, we work to the Career Development Institute's Code of Ethics. We only take on work where we have the competence to help and are accurate and transparent about our experience and expertise.
Your follow-up call can be used within four weeks of your consultation to review your thinking, explore anything that has arisen and help you decide what happens next.
Payment is due in full when you book. The follow-up call forms part of the Career Guidance package and should be used within four weeks; unused follow-up calls are not refundable.
