CV Clearing House Registration

THE BETA VERSION OF THE CV CLEARING HOUSE IS NOW ONLINE.
PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY

bookcareers.com keep a register of people who are looking for work within publishing, bookselling, librarianship and related fields. It is free to register your CV with us.

Who can apply?
We are a register for people who already have experience relevant to the book and publishing industry, or those who have studied publishing at university level.  If you are in the UK and do not have this experience, registration is at our discretion.  Worldwide candidates must have prior experience or a publishing qualification at a recognised organisation.

If you have no experience whatsoever it is at our discretion and depends on the number of people currently within our database at any one time.

The quality of your CV is important: if there are two or more errors of a spelling, grammatical or factual nature, your CV registration application will be rejected. So please check your CV carefully before uploading it.

How to apply
Please read our terms and conditions. Once you have agreed to them you may register. During registration (approx. 10 minutes) you will be asked for your CV (Microsoft word document, PDF or text file).

This is a new system; we are currently in Beta testing mode and there are no help pages available.  If you were registered under the old system (February 2017 and earlier), you will need to re-register as we have not transferred any accounts over.

Once you have registered your email address you may come back and complete your registration at any time.

Once you have supplied your email address to us, you may receive an email from us reminding you to complete the registration process.

When you have registered your application will go into our approval system.  Approvals usually take between 2 and 24 hours.

How it works
Once you have applied to join, your profile will go onto a public area of the site, for everyone to see. Your skills and experience will go into a database which is searchable by registered potential employers.

What can a registered employer see about me?
CURRENTLY WE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CONFIDENTIAL SEARCH FACILITY.  IF YOU DO NOT WANT EMPLOYERS (including possibly your current employer) KNOWING YOUR NAME OR CONTACT DETAILS YOU CAN STILL REGISTER BUT CLICK THE OPTION ‘HIDE YOUR CV FROM SEARCHES’; ‘Hiding your contact details’ does not currently work.  This message will be removed once this is fixed.

What happens next?
If you meet their criteria or they are otherwise interested in you, the Employer will invite you to apply for a vacancy.

You are not discriminated against if you decline to be put forward for any particular vacancies. Nor do we discriminate on grounds of age, gender, sexual orientation, race or disability.

Please note that we do not want you to apply for jobs just for ‘interview practice’.

We are not an employment agency or a recruitment consultancy and do not guarantee any level of response.
