 Job Description is THE careers consultancy for those who are working in book publishing and related industries. We work closely with those who are looking to change jobs, need to reinvigorate their career with coaching, start a publishing related business, or who are facing challenges in their working lives, such as redundancy, bullying or stress.  We are also about to launch a publishing company.  

We have an opening for a Freelance Administration Assistant to help organise our back office, administration and busy workload. This is a varied role but is likely to suit someone who loves administrative processes. Initially this is likely to be 4-6 hours a week, but these hours might increase over time to around 8.  Some weeks there might be no work.    

Duties could involve (but this list is by no means complete)

*updating a database
*updating mailing lists
*answering incoming enquiries
*diary management
*editing information on the bookcareers website
*resizing an image file
*covering social media
*telephone follow up
*assisting with our event at the London Book Fair
*advance preparation for a training courses
*Other office tasks such as filing, customer services and record keeping are all part of what we do here.

If you have a logical train of thought and organisation is your forte and you have already have office experience then you'll fit in quite well. Ideally you would have already worked on any type of sales/CRM database and be active on a variety of social media. Excellent spoken and written English is essential, and you should be able to proofread your own work. Book publishing experience would be a distinct advantage. At the very least, you'll need to be good at Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. WordPress or familiarity with Adobe or Canva would be an asset.

You'll need to understand that client confidentiality is paramount to our business. We offer all our clients the same confidentiality that they would come to expect from their Doctor, and you'll be expected to sign a confidentiality agreement.

This role is NOT suitable for remote working. We are paying £10 per hour.

Our small office is close to Redbridge Tube Station (IG4) on the Central Line. Please check the commute is manageable before you apply. We have a very friendly office cat who often likes to know what is going on.
