 Job Description

This opportunity would suit a proactive and enthusiastic candidate, who welcomes a challenge.  1-2 years logistics/distrbution experience preferably within the book publshing industry.  Attention to detail, good Excel and publishing systems knowledge required, along with excellent communication and organisational skills, and an ability to build strong working relationships.


Job Purpose:  To be responsible for managing stock availability, sales reporting and logistical running of the business in the UK market.


Key Responsibilities:  Sales order system and stock management


Maintain internal management system (MIS)


- update all Uk pub. programme changes on MIS


- assign ISBNs/UPCs to new titles


- enter 'go ahead' detail from product costing for UKT orders on MIS


- compiling, circulating and assigning the weekly grid list report


- chair regular gird list meeting across UK, ELC & FR teams to ensure accurate MIS entries and smooth instructions to production


Maintain HarperCollins system and relationship


- to be central contact for UK distribution, warehouse and stock issues


- upload and maintain all data onto CDS system


- supply data info for all deliveries into HC and enter the delivery PO numbers onto CDS


- instruct HC to invoice direct deliveries


- authorising stock retification at Carlton's distribution hubs


- assess re-order potential and alert reprint requirements to the UK Sales & Marketing Director


- monitor shipping reports and aler UK Sales team to late stock arrival


- maintain spreadsheets detailing potential stock reduction in UK


- working closely with the UK Sales & Marketing Director on the reduction of slow moving titles


- oversee pulping of Carlton products once identified and approved by Managing Director


liaising and organising handwork with HarperCollins (re stickering, shrinkwrapping et al) where required in conjunction with the Key Account Managers


- organise deposit copies for The British Library via HC


Internal procedures


- coordinating orders i.e. preparing overstock spreadsheet for remainders in the UK


- creating costings and raising grids for UKT


- management of FTP reports


- compile and circulate weekly sales report


- manage Nielsen reports and circulate internally


- update critical path annually 


- check and approve sales advances and final covers


- manage drop shipment system for Export sales reps
