ALPSP Networking: Plan S (ALPSP Members Only)

On 4 September 2018, Science Europe announced Plan S, a proposal for the transition of European-funded research to a fully open access environment, in line with the principles of open Science. ALPSP issued a briefing paper on 21 September to outline the key issues and invited feedback from members on the proposal and how it might affect their organisations. Since then there has been much discussion and engagement between the various stakeholders as the detail of the proposals has developed. ALPSP is working with Wellcome and UKRI to engage a consultant to explore strategies and business models through which learned societies could adopt and thrive under Plan S.

As a next step, ALPSP is pleased to host a speaker-led panel discussion and networking event to explore some of issues around the launch of Plan S, its implementation and impact for societies, publishers and researchers. The evening will be chaired by Peter Ashman, Chair of ALPSP.
