12/03/2020 @ 14:00 - 17:00 Careers Clinic at the London Book Fair

supported by The Publishers Association

OLYMPIA ROOM, (Near the Grand Hall Entrance) Olympia, London,

2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

Do you want to have a quick chat with a Human Resources Manager from a UK book publisher?

Or speak to one of the industry Recruitment Consultants?

Or get qualified careers guidance, advice on your CV, covering letters or skills and training from

Then join us in the Careers Clinic where we will have a room full of industry specialists waiting to answer your questions. Time is limited to approximately 5 minutes per person, and you will be seen on a first come, first served basis. We use a bell system, but not all advisors will be working to this.

The Careers Clinic gets very busy but we don’t turn anyone away during the time alloted.
Take a look at the entry queue from previous years (don’t let this put you off – it goes down quickly):
This year we do not intend to take any photographs of the queue or the inside of the room. Whilst we cannot guarantee others won’t take photographs, you can rest assured that bookcareers will not publish images of attendees. Any photographs we do take will be with the permission of all those in view.

You need to be registered to attend the London Book Fair to participate.

It is not possible to attend the Careers Clinic without a London Book Fair ticket.

If you are a student you should pre-register on [Go through the registration process and ensure your job title is student and the name of your university is the company name. You should then be given a student discount.]

We have a limited number of free London Book Fair tickets for those who are not able to access one from elsewhere, priority will be given to those who are unemployed, underemployed or stuck in internships and from the UK book industry. To apply for a bookcareers free ticket please send an email to stating your current employment situation.

For this year, we have been asked that only those who already have permission to work in the UK queue up in the Careers Clinic to see the HR Deparments and Recruiters. This is due to the difficulties involved in attaining UK visa sponsorship and the Advisors cannot help with International placements. The bookcareers table will be happy to talk to all visitors at the Careers Clinic, regardless of visa status.

If you require special assistance to navigate the Careers Clinic, please indicate this on the registration form and a member of our team will be in touch to help.

If you want your CV to be seen by those recruiting after the show or view the vacancies from employers who were at the Careers Clinic, then register on CV Clearing House on the website.

If you are not able to get to the London Book Fair then book into our online service, which runs all year round:

Please be assured that the complete information on the registration form will only be seen by and treated as confidential.

After the Careers Clinic we plan to join an industry social event at a local pub. These details will be updated once the venue is known.

We use all registration data in line with our Privacy Policy – your name and details will not be shared with anyone, but will be retained by for 24 months. We do analyse anonymous data (e.g. overall ethnicity of attendees) which we share with The Publishers Associaton and other trade organisations.
