How to Job SearchWe are delighted to announce the new season of our popular HOW TO JOB SEARCH IN BOOK PUBLISHING training course.

There are London dates scheduled, thanks to the support of The Publishers Association, and we now have an Edinburgh date confirmed, which is fully funded, thanks to the huge support of The Book Trade Charity BTBSPublishing Scotland and the MSc Publishing Course at Edinburgh Napier University.

The Edinburgh course takes place on Thursday, 15th September 2016.

About the How to Job Search course
This course has been designed to provide comprehensive information and training into How to Job Search in Book Publishing.  The aim is so you can improve on your current job search and aim to gain employment within the book and journal industry.
It is essential if
*You are looking for a job for the first time in a number of years.
*You are hoping to cross over into another area or sector of publishing
*You’ve been on a prolonged job search and keep getting rejected

Trends in job searching and recruitment constantly change
The way that companies recruit, where they advertise and what they look for in candidates is forever changing. On this one day course you will learn information and industry insights that are not available any where else. It covers all aspects of job hunting from putting together a CV and covering letter that works to where jobs are advertised. At the end of the day you’ll understand how to springboard your job hunting so you get the right result, and what you’ll learn will be valuable for the rest of your career, as well as any future job search.

We can’t make any guarantees that you will find employment after attending this course but the emails we receive from previous attendees tell us the course was instrumental in them getting a new job. If you are not in regular work and from UK book publishing, you can apply for a sponsored place
The Book Trade Charity BTBS are sponsoring places for those who are from UK book publishing.
To apply for a sponsored place you must be currently not in regular work (internships are not regular work) and be job hunting in book publishing
*Completed a Masters or First Degree in Publishing in the UK in 2015 or earlier
*Worked in the UK book industry (publishing, bookselling, distribution) for at least 6 months, whether with one employer of through a variety of freelance work or internships.
Unemployed publishing students from 2016 and those with less than 6 months experience will be considered if there are spaces available. However, the priority is for those who have been unemployed for a while and who are committed to a career in the book industry.
Those currently doing an internship and publishing freelancers who may not have enough regular work. If in doubt whether you qualify for sponsorship, please apply and let us make the decision. We will look at all applications on a case by case basis. All sponsorship is at our discretion. The aim is to help the most relevant candidates first, in particular those who have experienced redundancy and been unable to find new employment.
