What we can work on
Interview preparation is about more than predicting the questions
It’s easy to find lists of interview questions online or ask AI what you might be asked for a particular publishing role. That can be a useful starting point, but knowing the questions isn’t the same as knowing how to interview well.
We look at the specific job, employer and candidate. We consider what the employer is likely to be trying to establish, why particular questions may be asked and what a strong answer needs to demonstrate. Then we help you identify the evidence from your own experience that will show them what you can do.
Because we talk to publishing employers and recruiters and have worked with candidates across the industry for decades, we understand how recruitment actually works in publishing — and how expectations differ between roles, departments, organisations and levels of seniority. In many cases, we also know the organisations and people involved.
We’ll challenge answers that are too vague, too long, undersell your experience or don't actually answer the question. We can spot the important example you've overlooked, help you structure it and then practise until you can communicate it naturally and convincingly.
The aim isn't to give you answers to memorise. It's to make you a better interviewee. You should leave understanding not only how to approach this interview, but how to perform more effectively in future interviews too.
How to proceed
Interview Coaching costs £129 and is tailored to the specific role and interview you are preparing for.
Once you’ve booked, send us the full text of the job advertisement or job description, together with your CV, any application material you submitted and any instructions or information you’ve been given about the interview.
If you’ve been given details about the interview format, interviewers, presentation, task or anything else you’ve been asked to prepare, send those too. The more we know about the process, the more specifically we can prepare with you. Everything you share with us is treated as completely confidential.
During your appointment, we’ll work through the interview with you: what the employer is likely to be looking for, the questions you may face, the evidence and examples you need to draw on and how to communicate your answers naturally and convincingly.
This is coaching, not a list of model answers to memorise. We’ll challenge you, help you strengthen your answers and make sure you understand how to apply what you learn to future interviews too.
For senior, board-level, presentation-based or particularly complex interviews, we offer a more extensive bespoke Interview Coaching service, which can include presentation preparation and a full mock interview with detailed feedback and coaching.
